Our Values

Our values guide how we serve, lead, and work together as the Papua New Guinea Council of Churches, shaping our witness, relationships, and responsibility to God and the nation.

Living Our Faith Through Action

The Papua New Guinea Council of Churches (PNGCC) is guided by strong Christian values that shape our leadership, programs, partnerships, and public witness. These values influence how we work, how we serve, and how we relate to others. Our values are rooted in the teachings of the Bible and reflect our commitment to integrity, unity, justice, and service to all people of Papua New Guinea.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We are responsible and trustworthy in all that we do.

PNGCC believes that leadership is a sacred trust. We are accountable to God, to our member churches, to our partners, and to the people we serve. We strive to manage resources responsibly, make informed decisions, and remain answerable for our actions.

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”
– 1 Corinthians 4:2

COMMUNICATION

We speak with clarity, respect, and grace.

PNGCC values open, honest, and respectful communication. We aim to share information clearly, listen carefully, and speak truthfully in ways that build understanding and unity. Our communication reflects our Christian witness in public and private spaces.

“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
– Colossians 4:6

RESPECT

We honour the dignity of every person.

PNGCC believes that every human being is created in the image of God. We respect cultural diversity, church traditions, and differing views, and we promote peaceful dialogue, inclusion, and mutual understanding in all our engagements.

“Respect and honour should be shown to everyone.”
– 1 Peter 2:17

STEWARDSHIP

We care responsibly for God’s creation and resources.

PNGCC is committed to the responsible use of natural, financial, and human resources. We believe that caring for the environment and managing resources wisely is part of our Christian calling, for the benefit of present and future generations.

“The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
– Genesis 2:15

RELIABILITY

We are faithful, dependable, and consistent.

PNGCC strives to be reliable in its commitments and actions. We seek to build trust by being consistent, responsible, and faithful in small and large matters, ensuring that others can depend on us.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
– Luke 16:10

TRANSPARENCY

We act openly and honestly.

PNGCC values transparency in leadership, decision-making, and financial management. We aim to work openly, share information appropriately, and maintain integrity in all our operations and partnerships.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
– 2 Timothy 2:15

HONESTY

We speak and act with truth and integrity.

Honesty is central to PNGCC’s Christian witness. We commit to truthfulness in all relationships and actions, avoiding deception and upholding moral integrity in church and public life.

“The integrity of the upright guides them.”
– Proverbs 11:3

COMMITMENT

We serve with dedication and purpose.

PNGCC is committed to serving God, the churches, and the people of Papua New Guinea with dedication and excellence. Our work is carried out with wholehearted service, perseverance, and faithfulness.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
– Colossians 3:23–24

Guided by Faith, United in Service

These values guide PNGCC in fulfilling its calling as the united voice of the churches in Papua New Guinea. Through faith, unity, and service, we seek to build a just, peaceful, and compassionate nation.
